Iqela Events host one of the best triathlon events in the country. The SLANGHOEK TRI is easily ranked as one of the best events you will ever do, based on scenery and organisation. the Western Cape triathletes do not miss this race ever, while the rest of the country is urged to come and race this year

Slanghoek Triathlon 2016

Be part of the annual Slanghoek Triathlon in the beautiful setting of the Slanghoek Valley outside Rawsonville.  It caters for the beginners to the elite with 4 different races to choose from.

Event Dates:
MTB Triathlon on Saturday 22nd October 2016
Road Triathlon on Sunday 23rd October 2016

NO LATE ENTRIES, no transfer of entries after this date.  No refunds.

Registration will take place on:
Thursday 20th October 2016 at Sportsmans Warehouse, Tyger Valley  from 13h00 – 18h00
Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd October from 06h00 – 09H00 at Breeland Cellar.
No late entries will be accommodated after the closing date on the 12th of October 2016 at Midnight.

Please note:
If you are not a Western Province Triathlon Association registered athlete, you will be required to purchase a temporary day license – from the Western Province Triathlon table at registration.

Starting times (The colour represents your armband colour for swim start)

Standard Olympic Distance:
07h30 – Open men 20 – 29 Orange
08h00 – Open men 30 – 39 Yellow
08h30 – Vet men & Teams Green
09h00 – Woman (Open+Vets) Purple

Sprint Distance:
9h30 – Men Red
10h00 – Woman & Teams Blue
Race briefings will commence 15min before every start batch at the swim start area.

Prize money:
Individual overall top 3 Male and Female finishers in the Long Distance Events.

Standard Road Triathlon
Open: Male & Female -top 3
Vets: Male & Female – top 3

Sprint Road Triathlon
Open: Male & Female -top 3
Juniors:  16 – 18 Yrs:  Male and Female

Standard MTB Triathlon:
Open: Male & Female -top 3

SPrint MTB Triathlon:

Aid Stations:

1 Aid station on Road Bike leg
2 Aid stations on MTB leg
2 Aid stations on run leg, athletes on the long course will complete two laps of 5km.

Water points on 22km mark on Long Road bike section
Short MTB water point at ± 6km mark
Long MTB water points at ± 10km and ± 20km

Food and refreshments
There will be a variety of food and refreshments available for all.

Few important notes
Time trial bikes are allowed
NO SWIM CAPS will be provided.  Bright colored swim caps are compulsory for the swim leg.
Race numbers goes on the back for cycle leg and on the front for the run leg.
Road Bike – Tri bars and time trial bikes allowed, but NO drafting.
There are some rough sections on the route, so please remember to bring spares.
