1. Ceramic Fibre Composite Reinforced braking Surface

Maximizes high performance braking. Under high use and high friction the rim maintains lateral specification, which significantly reduces the thermal expansion on the braking surface compared to ordinary carbon fiber rims. It also offers a longevity to the rim that products of the past could not.

2. Hub Design

The revolutionary 6/60 hub technology houses an engagement system of 6 pawls and 60 ratchets that is staggered into 2 groups of 3 pawls. At any single time, 3 pawls are always engaged while the 3 other pawls are preloaded.

This allows the hub to have a responsive 3 degree engagement, translating into faster and more efficient power transfer.

The CrMo pawls are made through a fine extrusion process, so every piece is equal in size and a perfect match to the ratchet ring.
3 claws on each pawl maximizes contact points while spreading the driving force over a larger surface area, thereby prolonging the life span of the cassette body
In our overall design of the product we insist on using only highest quality bearings that reduce friction while ensuring longer wheel life.
We use only the highest performing product to date:

Ceramic hybrid bearings (Bearings: ABEC3, Si3N4 Ball: Grade 5) and Enduro bearings to provide fast and smooth riding.

3. Spoke Technology

Sapim aero spokes not only give an aerodynamic edge, they also make wheels lighter and stronger.

As light as titanium spokes, CX-Ray still receives one of the best results in fatigue testing.

Its unique strength and flexibility make the CX-Ray suitable for hard riding wheelsets. Even downhillers use them, recognizing their strength and flexibility. That is why Irwin equips CX-Ray as standard spoke on our wheelsets.

4. Aerodynamics


26mm Rim
Careful calculation of the dimensions and study of different factors affecting a rim’s aerodynamic coefficient allowed us to develop aerodynamically superior 26mm width rims. Our international team of test riders love the feel, comfort and performance of these new wide version rims. But the main advantage of these are still the vastly improved aerodynamics, especially in cross-wind environment. The result is faster speed while expending the same amount of energy as using standard rims.
