A whole host of the countries leading Senior and Junior triathletes will be in action on Sunday down in Durban at the 3rd leg of the Tinman Series. As the countries oldest triathlon series and the only draft-legal race series in SA, expect the top Seniors and Juniors to be doing battle for the titles on offer this Sunday morning at Suncoast Beach. Durban offers the very best in year-round racing conditions with warm weather predicted and provides some aspirant athletes (especially the U23 and Junior athletes) who want to join the ITU PRO ranks in years to come with a perfect opportunity to race over a criterium style course that is fast and furious.

The days events get underway with a 10km foot race for the runners. The next event up on offer is the Rookie TRI which comprises a 200m swim/6.5km cycle and 2.5km run. This is the ideal breeding ground for the future stars of tomorrow and a great starting point for those that want to experience what a triathlon event is all about. Next up is the Sprint Triathlon  (500m swim/22km cycle/5km run) which will see the countries top juniors do battle for the title. Not limited to just the juniors, this event caters for the weekend warrior who just wants to race over a distance that is very manageable, even for the not so fit in a fun environment. The Tinman series is traditionally known for a no-pressure, all fun race so we can expect hundreds to turn-up for this event. The last event to take place will be the Challenge Event (1km swim/32km cycle/10km run). This is where the top PRO’s will be in action, racing for the series prize money and overall honours.

Entries are open now and will also be taken on the day.  Provincial Unions, coaches and parents are encouraged to bring their youngsters to the event as there is no better breeding ground for a career in triathlon than the hard core racing experience that the Tinman Series delivers. for more info, visit
