Racing will start at 7am sharp with the 10km run only. This 2 lap run gives the runners and those only keen on 1 discipline a chance to post some PB’s along the Durban Promenade as they tackle the fast and flat run route.

Next up is the rookie tri which starts at 7:10am. Originally started up as an event for athletes to dip their toes in as an introduction to the sport of triathlon, this event has now grown in leaps and bounds with many of the youngsters keen on the sport, giving this race distance a crack. A 100m swim/5km cycle and 2.5km run ensure this event is a more than manageable enough distance wise for all the youngsters and newbies. A big field for the rookie triathlon can be expected once again.

The Sprint Triathlon (500m swim/20km cycle/5km run) is next up with a start time scheduled for 7:30am.  This event traditionally attracts some of the top juniors in the country as they go head-to-head over the super-fast race course that is completely spectator friendly. Last up will be the big guns as they take on the Challenge Triathlon which is raced over a 1km ocean swim/30km cycle and 10km run.

We can expect some of the big names in attendance. Donovan Van Gelder will make his return to racing after an injury lay-off. He will be challenged by the likes of up country athlete Rudolf Naude who is a previous winner with a strong background in all three disciplines. Casper Moodie has thrown his name into the hat with a few other late entries expected which will see this event live up to expectations as one of the best triathlon events in the country. On the ladies side, expect Desiree Verwey to be in the mix with a handful of other ladies in the field expected to vie for honours
